Jay Inslee visits Western | Bellingham photographer

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee visited Western Washington University today to talk with students about Pell Grants, budget cuts and the AmeriCorp and Students in Service Learning programs. I covered the visit for Western’s Office of University Communications, where I am a photography intern this spring.

I had an intriguing exchange with Rep. Inslee in the parking lot behind Old Main, right before he got into his Prius to leave. Only myself, Inslee and one of his staffers remained.

Inslee: “And who are you?”

Me: “I shoot for Western.”

Inslee: “Oh, you’re not one of those subversives, good.”

Me: “Uhh haha yeah paparazzi here. Mumble mumble.”
