I photographed Tacoma Hempfest as a self-assignment Saturday — hoping to make some images for my continuing essay on medical marijuana in Washington. The Tacoma Hempfest is a far different beast from its Seattle counterpart, which has largely more freedom and less police interaction with attendees.

A fight broke out late in the day. A woman was maced as she tried to break up a fight involving a family member, according to eyewitnesses. Those involved in the fight were placed under arrest at the scene.
